Restorative Dental Care

Some of the dental procedures we provide are followed with a brief explanation.
When your are at our office we will gladly explain your choices of restorative dental care procedures/materials and the benefits and negatives of each for your individual needs and expectations.
  • Dental Fillings: Replace missing tooth structure after decay, removal or a fracture tooth.  Choices of material are amalgam (silver), or composite (tooth colored).
  • Root canals:  Saves a tooth by removing the pulp from inside the root of a tooth which can cause pain and infection.
  • Dental Extractions:  The removal of non-restorable teeth, or teeth that are causing relieve pain or infection that patients elect not to save.
  • Lab Processed Inlays and Onlays:  They are either gold or porcelain (tooth colored).  Both Inlays and Onlays are a long lasting and relatively conservative replacement of missing tooth structure.
  • Dental Crowns (caps): Crowns are all porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or gold.  They are use to prevent the fracture of teeth or to replace already  fractured teeth.  Crowns can also be used in cosmetic dentistry to improve aesthetics.
  • Dental Veneers:  Veneers are of direct composite or lab processed porcelain and are used in cosmetic dentistry to change the shape or color of teeth to improve a patients overall smile.
  • Dental Implants:  Implants is a newer restorative dental care procedure.  They can replace a single tooth to numerous missing teeth.   The wonderful benefit of implants is that they are very similar appearance and function to natural teeth.
  • Bridges: Bridges are designed to replace one or more missing teeth.  Dental bridges offer similar function and aesthetics to natural teeth.  To use bridges, it is required that there are teeth on both sides of the missing tooth.
  • Removable Partial and Complete Dentures:  The use of both partials and full dentures provide an inexpensive way to replace numerous missing teeth.  The results of this procedure is the restoration of adequate functions and with improved aesthetics.
  • Dental Cleanings:  We highly recommend a regular proactive dental cleaning (also called Prophy).   A Prophy  is a preventative cleaning above the gums for patients with relatively healthy gums and minimum gingivitis.  Scaling and Root Planing (SRP) is for patients with gum disease including bone loss (Periodontitis) to clean below the gums, local anesthetic may be needed.
